few weeks ago when i searched what to buy in Bali, then i found a blogger who wrote about this place named KOU Bali in Ubud. KOU sells home made jam, salt and soap! what an unique combination:)
last week, i went for my bestfriend's wedding in Bali. On the first day i managed to visit Ubud area and KOU was one of the top must visit lists for sure.
it's located in the busy Monkey Forest street Ubud. Drive your car slowly after you pass the field on the right side then you will find this small shop.
there are: Mango, Passion Fruit&Tangerine Jam, Strawberry&Banana Jam, Apple Cinnamon Jam, Pineapple & Guava Jam, Milk Caramel Jam.
they also provide ice-cream sticks for tester! the customer can open the bottle, smell and see the color and ingredients of the jam and then taste it before finally decide which one they want to buy:)
i finally bought apple cinnamon sugar which has sweet cinnamon aroma and passion fruit &tangerine jam which has fresh and fruity taste! Love them both:)
too bad at that time, Milk Caramel Jam (the most favorite one) has sold out.
the hand made jam is only available in one size (small jar) Rp35.000,- with a very nice packaging (simple and elegant)
KOU also sells kusamba sea salt and herb sea salt, jenggala table ware, set of gift boxes, etc. the shop keeper was really nice and knowledgeable. She could explain really well about all the products and she told me that KOU also has another shop that sells home-made soap! the location is not too far from the jam&sea salt shop.
from the brochure KOU soap is made from pure coconut oil with no additives or preservatives. So they recommend the customer to use the soap within 6 months of purchase to enjoy its wonderful aroma.
this shop smells like a spa:) very relaxing and soothing. Same like the sister shop, they also have a long table for displaying all the soaps:
jasmine white ( with bengkoang and mangosteen), rose white (bengkoang and rose geranium), sweet orange, vanilla heaven (honey and milk), lemon tea tree, minty green (cucumber and peppermint) and two of premium: frangipani and tuberose.
soap in KOU is packaged in two forms: an usual 80 gram bar soap which starts from Rp33.000,- and 20gr candy bar (very cute one!) which starts from Rp10.000,-
but they also have bulk size of soap, just ask the shop keeper for the details.
